In 2013, Mark Polley will be stepping down from his role as Race Director. Mark has made a huge commitment to the event over many years and is now looking to have a break and get on with other personal commitments.
Mark first attended the SDBC back in 1999 and has been out there continuously ever since as Support Crew, Rider, Official and Race Director. That adds up to an incredible 14 year commitment to the race.
Mark took on the role of Race Director in 2008 during a time of intense change within the organisation. He has applied his talents and dedication to making the event safer and more professionally run. He has kept his presence of mind during stressful times re-routing the race and creating novel alternatives when some/all of the course was closed.
Congratulations Mark on your achievements and big thank you from the committee and all those who’ve been out there with you.
While Mark will be taking a complete break this year, we expect that it wont be too long before we spot him out in the desert again.
