Magnificent Effort for 2011
On the 29th February 2012, President Iain Blair handed over the final fundraising proceeds from the 2011 event, to Gemma Snewin at the RFDS hanger at Adelaide Airport. This brings the final fundraising total to a massive $36,724.95. For more details, see below.
RFDS continues to provide an essential service to rural, regional and remote Australia with our service activity levels higher overall compared to last year, for example patient transports have increased by 4%. This year saw the completion of the current aircraft replacement program that was facilitated with the assistance of the Department of Health and Ageing. Over the past four years, 11 aircraft have been replaced, with four Beechcraft B200 and seven Pilatus PC-12NG aircraft being accepted into service. These new aircraft will help reduce operating costs and increase availability for aeromedical tasks and the conduct of remote primary health care clinics.
